Dragon Boat Festival (Day 3)

                                                                                            Thursday, June 9
Happy Dragon Boat Festival Day!
It was my original plan to be drumming in a boat today, but the Kaohsiung AIT (same as an embassy, but since America can't treat us as a country--we have the AIT) decided not to have a boat in the race here.  :(
Dad is on holiday and I think he took it to the limit--I had to tell him NO! you can't go outside until you comb your hair!!  My next thought was--Dang, I hope I have this much hair when I'm 91.

Dad at 5:30 AM

We had a relaxing day.  Okay--a lot of snoring took place, but well deserved.  Dad met some people at school when I went in to check out.  Dave has a fever/cold so he is in mini-quarantine.  Molly's comment was--maybe there is a god!
We met a dozen of my friends at Dim Tai Fung for dinner.  They have great Xiao Long Bao.  They are dumplings with a little soupy liquid in them.  Molly helped me upload a video.  I think it is a classic example of how to survive eating in Taiwan.  Dad hit it right on--in 26 seconds!  The people are all KAS employees--teachers.  The young girl, Oriana, was in my class this year.  She made Dad a bowl and chopsticks as we waited for our food to come.  Dad says, "Much to my chagrine, Oriana could use the chopsticks better than me!"

She took mercy on him!

The 'relaxing' part of the day.  The red pillow was a joke gift from friends.  The other was given to me by my class this year.

Good night to all.  Dad crashed when we got home from dinner, the rest of us are close behind.  I'm hoping to sleep in tomorrow--first day of summer vacation!  :))

PS--Dave is feeling a bit better.

  4. Ah, comeon, Cas, SHARE!

Love the pics. You mean, this is the FIRST time Lyle has used chopsticks? Or just the first time he learned to do it right?
