Taiwan to Xi'an, China (Day 10)

                                                                                                Thursday, June 16
Xi’an, China

We got up early, taxis waiting for us at 6 AM.  Nice flights to Xi’an via Hong Kong.  We arrived here with no hitches, but we were a bit concerned when Dad’s suitcase kept NOT coming off the conveyor belt.  We told him we’d go to the hotel and come back for him later.  Hahaha.  It finally arrived, and when we went through customs, our guide was waiting for us.  I swear I’ve seen toothpicks that are bigger than she is!
Driving in this town is way past crazy.  We are all glad that we do not have to do this.  Our driver kept turning left by flanking a big bus.  Through red lights.  We decided to call this the “Lyle Maneuver”.  Hopefully he will not try it when he gets back home!
The hotel is very nice.  We walked around looking for a restaurant, but then decided that maybe the hotel was our best bet.  Dad does not hesitate to try everything—no matter how strange—but he was happy to have some sausage and sauerkraut.  German that he is!
