Oiy Choy Oiy!
We went up the 85 Tower (thanks for the idea, Cerise). The entire taxi ride there--no rain. He stopped to let us off and the skies opened up! By the time we got to the 74th floor--we could almost see the harbor. We decided to get lunch in the hope that the clouds would rise. Clearly they had a different plan. By the time we finished, we couldn't even see out the window!
We gave up on the walking along the harbor idea, and got a taxi home. Dave is finally feeling well enough to venture out with us. We all went to dinner and sat outside under a huge canvas canopy. Just about the time we were leaving, once again the Rain god zapped us--a downpour. In the 40m run to the taxi, we were soaked.
I am happy to report that they are now getting adjusted enough so that they actually know what day it is! The local 7-11 has exactly one English newspaper and so far Dad has been early enough to get it. Molly and Sylvia went for a walk and got properly lost. None of us worried about them since we figured they found a place to get a manicure! I think they were a bit sad that we didn't wonder about them. I sent them off with one of my little cards that says "Please take me home"--with my address listed in English and Chinese. There were a stack of these on my table when I moved in 3 years ago. Tomorrow we fly to Hualien, NE of here.
