Hello!
This morning at 5:30 I went into Dad's room to make sure he was still breathing! He did not get up once in the night, and he has been awake and up by 5 every morning. I was almost afraid to open the door. Haha--I think he has crossed the road to his new and improved time zone. From here on out, we have small time changes. He finally woke up at 6:30.
He and Dave walked to the 7-11 to get the one and only English newspaper. To know him is to know that a day without a newspaper (complete with Sudoko and crossword puzzle), is a day without sunshine. I know what you're thinking--can't she do better than this? Apparently not.
Today's agenda included the Naval Museum with a history of the Japanese impact on Taiwan. The area I live in--Zuoying--is thick with war history. We had a very nice English tour guide. Pictures were not allowed. Afterwards, we went to the Dragon and Tiger Towers. Due to rain, it has taken us a few tries to get there. I pass them to and from my ride to school, but it is the first time I've been up them. Great view of Lotus Lake, and Dad was really glad to finally get up them. To prevent bad luck, we walked in the Dragon and out the Tiger.
Dinner tonight is at a well known and loved Taiwanese Hot Pot restaurant. We all fasted today (not counting the beer) so we are ready for an onslaught of food!
We are packing and sorting since the taxi will pick us up at 6 tomorrow morning. We head to Xi'an, China via Hong Kong. Friday we will visit the Terracotta Warriors.
Including some photos of our dinner. They could end up in the middle of all of these--who knows? Oh--now we know--they are at the top of the pictures. We are very happily full. It was a really, really good meal.
